Gears of War movie trilogy planned

Lee Wiseman, director of the upcoming Gears of War film has revealed that three movie installments are on the drawing board. Speaking with Bloody-Disgusting,Wiseman revealled his thoughts about the games and his upcoming movie.
Wiseman says he’s not much of a gamer, and didn’t get into video games at all until he encountered Gears of War while making Live Free or Die Hard.

The film is being co-written with Chris Morgan, the writer of Wanted. The movie will focus on the science-fiction aspects of Gears of War, rather than the sheer horror and monster element.
Although only one film is officially in motion, Wiseman says he hopes to make the film into a trilogy, delivering the full scope of his Gears story.
“Basically a harder edged Lord Of The Rings,” he says.
No timeline has been announced for the film’s production, but we’ll have more details as they emerge.
