You couldn’t wait five days?
September 24th, 2007 |
Last Thursday someone managed to get Halo 3 online. Not surprising, I guess. Dead are the days when a company could safely (or cheaply) plan launches for its own products. Their own successes in building hype for their product leads the Internet pirates to push their work online early.
I could understand this if the people who ripped this were in some way profiting from their activity, but this isn’t exactly selling bootlegs on a street corner. Someone out there decided that, just for the hell of it, they’d risk the hundreds of thousands of dollars and possible years of prison time that they might face in sentencing, should they be convicted of pirating this game. Not to mention, that they’d have to expose their modified Xbox 360 console to Xbox Live to fully enjoy the game, causing Microsoft to likely ban that particular machine from its online service.
Risking all of this, just to start playing Halo 3 five short days early? Wow.
