PS3 wants to challenge Xbox Live
June 12th, 2006 |So Mr. PlayStation, aka Ken Kutaragi, says that the PlayStation 3’s online service will be free. And not like Xbox Live Silver is free… like, if Gold was free. They’re going to make their money off of content downloads - through whatever copy of Xbox Live Marketplace they create.
Any chance this is going to make Microsoft drop the subscription fee for Xbox Live Gold? Probably not. But I think it’s a nice idea, if they don’t collapse.
